Can I change how fulfillment orders, purchase orders, supply shipments, and ASNs are numbered?

Admins can choose formats for new fulfillment orders, purchase orders, and purchase shipments under Settings → Operations → Numbering.

Open Numbering and pick a Fulfillment Order Number Format:

  • Order number with fulfillment code, the default: SO12345-FO-4414A3, with a random six-character code.
  • Order number with fulfillment index: SO12345-FO1.
  • Order number with distribution center and fulfillment index: SO12345-DC-0842-1.
  • Fulfillment code only: FO-4222A3.

The choice applies only to fulfillment orders created from then on. Existing fulfillment orders keep their numbers. A fulfillment order that arrives from an integration with its own number keeps that number.

The distribution center format needs a destination distribution center on the sales order, which usually comes from a retailer’s EDI order. When the order does not have one at the moment the fulfillment order is created, Endless uses the fulfillment index format instead, so the number looks like SO12345-FO1. Endless does not renumber that fulfillment order if a distribution center is added later.

Purchase orders are numbered PO-2026-000001 by default: the year and a six-digit counter. Supply shipments going to one of your buildings use the ASN format, ASN-2026-0001 by default, and other supply shipments use SHP-2026-0001. Edit the purchase order and purchase shipment formats in Numbering. Contact Endless support for help with a format. A format can include the year, month, week, and day, plus one counter. The counter does not restart each year. You can also type your own PO Number when you create a purchase order.
