Why can’t I add, assign, edit, or restore a task?
Endless checks a few rules when you add, assign, or edit a task, and the message tells you which one failed.
To bring back a removed task, add it again. A removed task does not block a new one with the same title.
The assignee must be a member of the company the task belongs to. Assigning anyone else fails with “Assigned person is not a member of the company.” Invite the person to the company first.
Task titles must be unique on each record. A second task with the same title on the same order, or on the company’s Tasks page, fails with “Task with this title already exists for this taskable.” Completed and canceled tasks count. Removed tasks do not. Use a different title, or reopen the existing task.
Add tasks to an order before it is shipped or canceled. After that, existing tasks on the order stay, and you can still edit and complete them. For follow-up work, add a task on the company’s Tasks page.
A due date must be in the future. Before you save changes to a task that is due today or whose due date has passed, change the due date to a future date, or clear it. Otherwise Endless shows “Due date cannot be in the past.” Marking a task complete works without changing the due date.
The “Read only” badge on the Tasks page means your role does not let you add, edit, and remove tasks. Only Admins and Operators can. Ask a company Admin to change your role.
