What do sending, resending, and reverting a fulfillment order do, and how do I avoid duplicate shipments?
“Send for fulfillment” asks the fulfillment order’s warehouse integration to create the order in its system. When the warehouse accepts it, Endless saves the warehouse’s External ID and marks the fulfillment order In Progress. The integration is the one selected on the fulfillment order, otherwise the building’s. Processing must be enabled before sending.
“Resend for fulfillment” appears on a Failed fulfillment order and sends it again. Endless does not send a fulfillment order that already has an External ID. If a send failed after the warehouse already received the order, for example after a timeout, a resend can create a second order there. Check the warehouse system before you resend.
“Change Fulfillment Integration” sets which integration receives this fulfillment order. “No integration” uses the building’s. It can be changed only before the order is sent: in Draft, Allocated, Ready, or Failed.
Reverting an In Progress fulfillment order with “Revert to Allocated” pulls it back from the warehouse:
- If the integration supports cancellations, Endless asks the warehouse to cancel and removes the link to the warehouse order. If the warehouse does not accept the cancellation, the order’s activity shows it, and InfoPlus, ShipBob, and Trackstar orders also show an alert. Check the order in the warehouse and cancel it there if needed. If Endless cannot reach the warehouse to cancel, it keeps the link and sends the notification “A cancellation was not confirmed.”
- If the integration does not accept cancellations, Endless asks whether to pull it back anyway. Cancel the order in the warehouse system first, then select “Pull it back,” which reverts the fulfillment order in Endless only.
A customer usually receives an order twice when the warehouse still had the first copy, after a pull-back the warehouse did not cancel or a resend after a failure the warehouse had accepted. Before sending again, confirm the warehouse removed its copy.
To limit who can revert or edit fulfillment orders after they are sent, use roles. Contact Endless support to discuss locking a building’s sent fulfillment orders.
