Why do items on an order show as unassigned or unfulfilled, and how do I change fulfillment order quantities?

Units are unassigned until they are on a fulfillment order that is not canceled. The Items To Fulfill card lists them, and the order shows the signal “N units have no fulfillment plan.” Create a fulfillment order for them with Create Fulfillments, then Choose Building, Use Strategy, or Add to existing.

Units can appear in Items To Fulfill on an order that already shipped when:

  • a fulfillment order was canceled, which frees its units,
  • a fulfillment order’s quantity was lowered or a line was removed,
  • the sales order’s quantity went up, by an edit or an update from the sales channel, or
  • the routing strategy uses “Ship what’s available,” which leaves unsourced units without a fulfillment order.

A fulfillment order becomes Fulfilled only when shipments cover all of its items. If the warehouse ships it without an out-of-stock item, it stays In Progress, and its whole reservation stays in place. To ship without the item, lower its quantity or remove it before the fulfillment order is sent. The units return to Items To Fulfill for a later fulfillment order. If it was already sent, select “Revert to Allocated” first.

To put more units on fulfillment orders, raise the item’s quantity on the sales order first. Creating or editing above the sales order quantity is rejected, for example with “Fulfillment quantity exceeds the unassigned order quantity.” “Fulfillment quantities exceed the sales order” appears when unfinished fulfillment orders hold more units than the sales order, for example after the sales channel lowered a quantity. Lower the quantity on a fulfillment order or cancel the extra one.

You can change quantities on Draft, Allocated, and Failed fulfillment orders with “Edit item” or “Bulk edit items.” Raising a quantity on an Allocated or Failed fulfillment order needs stock at the building for the added units. Otherwise Endless reports “Cannot increase quantity — inventory unavailable at this warehouse.” Ready and later fulfillment orders must be reverted before editing.
