What happens to existing orders when I apply, edit, or archive a routing strategy?

Applying a routing strategy to an order replaces its Draft fulfillment orders and routes only the units that are not on another fulfillment order. Fulfillment orders that are Allocated or further along stay as they are. If the strategy cannot produce a plan, Endless keeps the existing Drafts and reports why.

To apply one by hand, open the sales order and select Create Fulfillments, then Use Strategy. The option appears on confirmed orders that have items not yet on a fulfillment order. Endless creates the fulfillment orders in the background, then shows “Fulfillments created” or the reason it failed. The order’s activity records each attempt.

To apply a strategy to many orders, select Ordered orders on the Orders list and choose Create Fulfillments from the bulk actions. Up to 50 orders can be processed at a time. Orders that already have a fulfillment order that is not canceled, including a Draft, are skipped.

Editing a strategy does not re-route any order. Existing fulfillment orders keep their buildings, and the changes apply the next time the strategy runs.

Archiving a strategy hides it from the strategies list and cannot be undone. Orders that used it keep their fulfillment orders. Endless blocks archiving while an active automation uses the strategy, so disable or archive the automation first. An archived strategy cannot be applied again.

A new building is used only by the strategies you add it to. Open each strategy that should use it, select Include in the Buildings section, and save.

Route items the sales channel adds to an existing order from the Items To Fulfill card with Create Fulfillments, then Use Strategy, Choose Building, or Add to existing. A strategy’s automation runs only when an order is created or approved. Contact Endless support for help.
