How does Endless handle kits and bundles when it routes, allocates, and fulfills an order?

Endless routes a kit or bundle as its own SKU, then decides when each fulfillment order is created whether to fulfill it with components. The product’s “Fulfill with components” setting controls this:

  • Yes: the kit line is replaced with its components.
  • Auto: Endless keeps the kit SKU when the building’s unallocated stock of the kit covers the whole line. Otherwise it uses the components, even if they are out of stock.
  • No, the default: the kit SKU stays on the fulfillment order.

The setting applies to fulfillment orders created after the change, by routing or by hand. It does not apply to fulfillment orders that another system processes, such as Shopify locations that do not process fulfillments in Endless.

Decomposing replaces the kit line with one line per component, each with the component’s SKU and the per-kit quantity multiplied by the kit quantity. Allocation then reserves component stock, and the warehouse receives the components. The sales order still shows the kit, and component shipments count toward it.

On a Draft fulfillment order, an item’s menu offers “Use components” to decompose a kit line by hand, and “Use original item” to put the kit SKU back. “Use original item” is blocked once the components are allocated. Revert to Draft first.

Routing checks the kit SKU’s availability at each building, which includes Available to Make, the kits that could be built from components in stock there. Routing can therefore send a kit to a building that has components but no finished kits.

That is the usual reason an order with a bundle cannot be allocated. Allocation reserves only physical stock, and the line still asks for the kit SKU. Select “Use components” on the line, or set the product to Auto or Yes before the fulfillment order is created. An older fulfillment order may show “This fulfillment still has bundle components in the previous format.” Revert it to Draft to convert them.
