What happens when I cancel a sales order, and which orders can’t be canceled?

Canceling a sales order cancels the order and every fulfillment order that is not Fulfilled or already Canceled. Select “Cancel Order” on the order. It is available while the order is Draft, Pending, Ordered, or In Progress.

When you cancel, Endless:

  • Cancels each Draft, Allocated, Ready, Failed, or In Progress fulfillment order and releases the inventory reserved for it.
  • Asks the warehouse to cancel any fulfillment order that was already sent, when its integration accepts cancellations.
  • Stops counting the order against inventory availability.
  • Leaves Fulfilled fulfillment orders and their shipments as they are.

You can cancel an order until every item has shipped. A partly shipped order, which shows In Progress, can be canceled. Its shipped fulfillment orders stay Fulfilled, and the rest are canceled.

To cancel only some items, edit the order’s items to remove them or lower their quantities, or cancel the fulfillment orders that hold them. When every fulfillment order on an order is canceled, the sales order is not canceled. It returns to Ordered, and its items become unassigned.

A hold does not block cancellation. You can cancel an order while it is on hold.

To cancel many orders, cancel each one from its own page. To cancel incoming orders automatically, use an automation with the Cancel Order action, which runs when they are created or approved. Contact Endless support for help canceling many existing orders or a Shipped order.

“Uncancel Order” reinstates a canceled order and returns it to Ordered, whatever its status was before. Its canceled fulfillment orders stay canceled, and inventory is not reserved again. Create new fulfillment orders, or let a “Create fulfillments” automation do it, to ship the order.
