Which products get inventory records in Endless, and what happens to inventory when I archive a product?
Every product gets one inventory record, whatever its product type. Endless creates it when the product is added, imported, or cloned.
The record belongs to the company, not to a building, so adding a building does not create new records. A building shows quantities for a SKU once stock is recorded at one of its locations through an adjustment, a receipt, an import, or a pull from an integration. The item’s Locations tab lists every active building, with zeros where there is no stock. If a product is missing from the inventory list, choose “Refresh inventory” on the list. It creates records for any product that is not archived and does not have one, then recalculates quantities and pulls the latest levels from your integrations.
Non-inventory products, parts, and bundles appear in the inventory list because they get a record like every other product. Use the Product Type filter to narrow the list to one type, such as Finished Good.
Endless lets you archive a product only when none of these apply:
- “Product has active orders”: it is on a sales order that is not Canceled or Shipped.
- “Product is a component in an active bundle or kit.”
- “Product has pending supply shipments”: it is on a supply shipment that is not Closed or Canceled.
- “Product has active inventory allocations.”
Archiving does not change stock quantities. Endless archives the product’s inventory record along with the product, so it drops out of the inventory list. Units left at its locations still count in the building, for example when you try to archive the building. Adjust the stock to zero before archiving if the units are gone. If you unarchive the product, it returns to the list with the same quantities.
