What do Ordered, Allocated, Unallocated, Physical, In Stock, and Available to Sell mean, and how are they calculated?
Endless calculates a SKU’s quantities as a chain that starts with the units in its locations and ends with Available to Sell. The item’s Overview tab shows the chain step by step.
- Physical: every unit recorded at the SKU’s locations, across all buildings.
- Quarantine: units in quarantine locations, such as each building’s Default Unavailable location. They count in Physical but cannot be allocated.
- In Stock: Physical minus Quarantine.
- Allocated: units reserved at specific locations for fulfillment orders that have been allocated.
- Unallocated: In Stock minus Allocated.
- Avail. to Allocate: Unallocated plus Available to Make, the units that could be made from component stock.
- Ordered: demand from open sales orders that is not allocated yet.
- Avail. to Sell: Unallocated minus Ordered. For a product with components and “Inventory includes components” turned on, Available to Make is added. A negative number means demand is larger than supply.
Allocated and Ordered never count the same unit. Ordered counts units on Pending, Ordered, and In Progress sales orders that are not on a fulfillment order yet, plus units on fulfillment orders that are still Draft. When a fulfillment order is allocated, its units move from Ordered to Allocated. When shipments cover the whole fulfillment order, its units leave Allocated and Physical together.
Ordered often includes units you do not expect for two reasons. Pending orders that are waiting for approval count, and so do Draft fulfillment orders that were never allocated. Cancel orders you will not fill, and allocate or cancel old Draft fulfillment orders.
Physical and In Stock differ only by the units in quarantine locations. Unallocated can be negative when stock at a location was adjusted below the units already allocated from it.
