How does Endless allocate inventory to orders, and which buildings and locations does it take stock from?

Endless allocates stock to fulfillment orders, and each fulfillment order takes stock only from its own building. Routing chooses the building when the fulfillment order is created. Allocating reserves units at specific locations in that building. It happens when you choose “Allocate” on the fulfillment order, or automatically when the fulfillment order’s profile advances it on its own.

Within the building, Endless uses active, pickable locations only. For each line it tries the line’s assigned location first, then the other locations by zone in this order: Picking, Wholesale, Bulk, Receiving, Returns, Shipping, Kitting, and External. One line can be split across several locations in the same building when no single location has enough.

To control the location, such as keeping A-stock and B-stock apart, use “Assign location” on a line while the fulfillment order is in Draft. Endless then takes stock only from that location and fails if it is short. To keep B-stock out of automatic allocation entirely, store it in a location that is not pickable.

To use stock in another building, change the fulfillment order’s building and allocate again. Allocation reserves stock only when the building can cover every line.

Only allocated fulfillment orders hold stock. Units on Draft fulfillment orders, and sales order items that are not on a fulfillment order yet, count as Ordered. Ordered lowers Available to Sell but does not stop another fulfillment order from allocating the same units.

When stock arrives, check the sales order’s Signals tab, which shows when a Draft fulfillment order “can now be fully allocated.” Choose “Allocate” on the fulfillment order to reserve the stock. Contact Endless support to discuss allocating open orders automatically when stock arrives.
