What is Available to Make, and how does Endless calculate it?
Available to Make is the number of units of a product that Endless calculates could be built from the unallocated stock of its components. It applies to Finished Goods, Bundles, and Aliases that have components.
Endless calculates it for each building. For each component, it divides the component’s Avail. to Allocate in that building by the quantity the product needs, rounds down, and keeps the smallest result. Every building has a system location named Available to Make that holds this figure. It is a calculation, so it is left out of Physical and is never allocated. The item’s Locations tab labels it “System Location (calculated).” The older building page hides it from Inventory Locations, and the newer page lists it under Locations.
- Allocated components: units already allocated are excluded. Ordered demand for the components is not subtracted.
- Shared components: each product is calculated on its own, so two bundles that share a component can both count the same units.
- Buildings: stock is never combined across buildings, and inactive buildings get zero. The product’s total is the sum of its buildings.
- Nested components: a component’s own Available to Make counts as part of its Avail. to Allocate.
- Quarantine: units in quarantine locations do not count.
Available to Make is added to Available to Sell only when “Inventory includes components” is turned on for the product. It is always part of Avail. to Allocate and the stock depth badge.
Endless recalculates every hour. It also recalculates a product right away when its components change, and when a fulfillment order that uses its components is allocated, reverted to Draft, or fulfilled. Stock changes on components wait for the hourly run. To update now, choose “Recalculate Inventory Levels” on the inventory list.
