How does stock on purchase orders show as incoming, and what happens to inventory when it is received?
Incoming includes purchase orders, unreceived supply shipments, and transfers to the destination:
- On PO Shipped: units on shipment lines linked to an open purchase order, minus the units already received on each line.
- On PO Not Shipped: units on open purchase order lines that are not on any shipment yet.
- Other Incoming: unreceived units on shipments that are not linked to a purchase order line, while the shipment is Pending, In Transit, Delivered, or In Receiving. Received, Closed, and Canceled shipments contribute zero shipment incoming.
Warehouse transfers add their unreceived quantities while In Transit, Delivered, or In Receiving. Total Incoming includes those transfers as well. A purchase order is open in every status except Closed and Canceled, so Draft purchase orders count. Future Avail. is Available to Sell plus Total Incoming.
Units can show as incoming when nothing is on the way because a purchase order is still open. Lines never added to a shipment stay in On PO Not Shipped, and marking a top-level shipment Received with an uncovered shortfall returns the missing quantity to On PO Not Shipped, where it can be assigned to another shipment. Close or cancel the purchase order to remove them.
On the item’s Incoming Shipments tab, “No Purchase Order” is the Other Incoming quantity.
To sell stock that has not arrived, turn on “Include incoming inventory” in the Shopify integration’s settings. Endless then adds unreceived units on shipments to each building’s pushed quantity, and incoming warehouse transfers, but not purchase order units without a shipment. Other channels receive Available to Sell only. Contact Endless support to discuss selling incoming stock on other channels.
When you enter received quantities on a supply shipment, Endless adds the units to stock right away, so you do not need an adjustment. Units go to the shipment’s destination location if one is set, or to the building’s Default Available location. That location must be active to receive units. If it is inactive, activate it, then add the units with an adjustment. In a building whose inventory is managed by an integration, stock comes from that integration’s pulls, not from receipts. Contact Endless support for help if a building does not have a Default Available location.
