What happens to component inventory when a bundle or kit is allocated, sold, assembled, or pushed to a channel?
Endless deducts component stock for a bundle or kit only when its fulfillment order contains the components instead of the bundle. The product’s “Fulfill with components” setting decides this when a fulfillment order is created:
- Yes: Endless replaces the bundle line with its component lines.
- Auto: Endless keeps the bundle line when the bundle’s own unallocated stock in that building covers the whole line. Otherwise it uses the components, even if they are out of stock.
- No, the default: the bundle line stays.
On a Draft fulfillment order you can switch a line yourself with “Use components” or “Use original item.”
Allocation then works the same way as for any SKU. Endless reserves the bundle’s own stock, or each component’s stock, at locations in the fulfillment order’s building. When shipments cover the whole fulfillment order, those units leave stock. A bundle line with “Fulfill with components” set to No needs the bundle SKU’s own stock, so allocation fails when only the components are in stock.
To record assembling kits, adjust the component quantities down and the kit quantity up, either on each item or with Import Inventory. Your developer or an AI coding tool can automate these adjustments through the Endless API with an Operations Integration. API access must be in your plan. Alternatively, do not stock the kit at all. Set “Fulfill with components” to Yes and turn on “Inventory includes components,” and Endless sells the kit from component stock. Contact Endless support to discuss recording kit assembly.
Endless pushes each building’s Available to Sell to channels, and never less than zero. For a bundle, that includes Available to Make only when “Inventory includes components” is turned on. Otherwise channels receive the bundle’s own unallocated stock minus Ordered. Available to Make is recalculated hourly, so pushed bundle quantities can trail component stock changes by up to an hour.
