Why does allocation fail or fall short when the inventory list shows the SKU in stock?

Allocation checks stock location by location in the fulfillment order’s building, while the inventory list adds up stock across every building and location. If the building cannot cover every line, allocation fails with “Inventory not available for product” followed by the SKUs it could not cover, and nothing is reserved.

For each line, Endless can only use stock that is:

  • in the fulfillment order’s building. Stock in other buildings is not used.
  • in an active, pickable location. Units in a location that is not pickable, such as a building’s Default Unavailable location, still count in Physical.
  • not already allocated. A location’s free stock is its units minus the units already allocated there.
  • in the line’s assigned location, when it has one. The message then names it, for example “SKU-1 at location A-01.” Use “Change location” on the line to pick another location or clear it.

Available to Make is never allocated. Avail. to Allocate includes it, so a bundle can look available while the bundle SKU has no stock of its own. Set “Fulfill with components” on the bundle, or use “Use components” on the line, to allocate the components instead.

Ordered demand from other orders does not block allocation. Units go to whichever fulfillment order is allocated first.

You can adjust a location’s stock below the units already allocated there. Endless accepts the adjustment and keeps the existing allocations. Unallocated stock at that location becomes negative, and new allocations cannot use it until stock rises above the allocated units. To lower a count below its allocations, first revert the affected fulfillment orders to Draft, which releases their stock, then correct the count and allocate them again.
