How do I record a shipment for a fulfillment order, and what does it change?

Select “Create shipment” in a fulfillment order’s actions menu, or “Create Shipment” when it is In Progress. In step 1 you choose the items and the quantity of each to ship. Endless fills in the units not yet shipped. In step 2 you enter the “Date shipped” and, optionally, a tracking number, carrier service, bill of lading, reference number, and under “Add cost and packaging,” the shipping cost, package type, weight, dimensions, and package, carton, and pallet counts.

The tracking number is optional, so you can record a shipment without one. “Date shipped” defaults to today and accepts an earlier date.

Every shipment belongs to a fulfillment order. To record a shipment on a sales order that does not have one, create a fulfillment order first.

You can record as many shipments as you need, each for some or all of the remaining units. After a partial shipment, the fulfillment order keeps its status and its items show as partly shipped. When shipments cover every item, it becomes Fulfilled. The sales order becomes Shipped only when Fulfilled fulfillment orders cover all of its items.

On-hand inventory goes down only when shipments cover the whole fulfillment order. Partial shipments leave the units reserved, and the Timeline shows “Inventory was not reduced. Allocated inventory remains reserved until shipments cover the entire fulfillment.” When the last shipment completes it, Endless removes the reserved units from stock. If the fulfillment order had nothing reserved, as with a building whose inventory is managed by another system, Endless records “Inventory was not reduced because this fulfillment had no active allocation.”

To add items to a shipment, create another shipment for them. To correct a shipment’s items or tracking number, select “Cancel shipment” on its card and record it again. Shipments reported by a connected warehouse can be updated by that warehouse. Contact Endless support for help correcting a shipment.
