Why can’t I mark an order as shipped, and what should I do with orders I ship outside my warehouse?
You mark an order shipped by recording a shipment on each of its fulfillment orders, and “Create shipment” is available only when the fulfillment order is ready for it. The sales order becomes Shipped when Fulfilled fulfillment orders cover all of its items.
“Create shipment” is in the fulfillment order’s actions menu until it is Fulfilled or Canceled. It is enabled when:
- the fulfillment order is In Progress, or
- its building’s inventory is managed by another system, in which case any status works.
For a building whose inventory Endless manages, take the fulfillment order through “Allocate,” “Mark as Ready,” and “Mark as In Progress” first. Clear any blockers, such as a hold, and on an EDI order add containers, before you create the shipment.
When the item’s stock is zero or negative at a building whose inventory Endless manages, correct the inventory first, then allocate. Allocation needs available stock.
For Shopify orders you ship yourself, record the shipment in Endless with “Create shipment.” Endless sends it to Shopify with its tracking. If the fulfillment order was already sent to your warehouse, select “Revert to Allocated” to pull it back, then mark it Ready and In Progress without sending it, and create the shipment. “Mark as In Progress” does not send anything to the warehouse. For an order that Endless is processing, record the shipment in Endless instead of fulfilling it in Shopify.
“Shipment reports more than the planned quantity” appears on a fulfillment order’s Timeline when its shipments add up to more units of an item than the fulfillment order contains. The shipment is still recorded. Look for a duplicate shipment and select “Cancel shipment” on it.
Endless rejects a shipment with “Shipment already exists” when a warehouse or integration reports a shipment with an External ID already recorded on that fulfillment order. That shipment ID identifies a shipment; the fulfillment order’s External ID identifies the warehouse’s execution record. Before you record a shipment by hand, check the fulfillment order’s shipments, and select “Cancel shipment” on any duplicate. Contact Endless support for help recording shipments.
