What do location zones and the Pickable setting do, and which stock counts as sellable?
A location’s zone sets whether its stock counts as In Stock and the order in which Endless allocates from it. Pickable sets whether Endless allocates from it at all.
The zones are Picking, Wholesale, Bulk, Receiving, Returns, Shipping, Quarantine, Kitting, and External. The names describe how you use the space. Endless treats them the same except in two ways:
- Quarantine is the only zone that keeps stock out of In Stock. Stock in Receiving, Returns, and every other zone counts as In Stock, can be sold, and is included in inventory pushes.
- When Endless allocates a fulfillment order, it takes stock from the building’s locations in this zone order: Picking, Wholesale, Bulk, Receiving, Returns, Shipping, Kitting, External, then Quarantine. A location set on the fulfillment item is tried first.
Pickable controls allocation only. Endless allocates from active locations with Pickable turned on. In Stock is based on zone, so stock in a non-pickable location still counts as In Stock and Unallocated and can be pushed to sales channels even though orders cannot be allocated from it. To keep stock from being sold or allocated, use a Quarantine-zone location with Pickable turned off.
“System Location (calculated)” is the building’s Available to Make location. It appears on an item when its inventory includes components. Endless calculates its quantity from the component stock that could build the item, so you cannot adjust or edit it. All system locations, including Default Available and Default Unavailable, are managed by Endless and cannot be edited.
To hold units for a customer or channel before an order exists, move them to a Quarantine-zone location with Pickable turned off, which keeps them out of every channel and allocation, and move them back when the order arrives. The Wholesale zone only affects allocation order, and its stock is sold to any order. Stock is reserved for an order when its fulfillment order is allocated. Contact Endless support to discuss reserving stock for a customer or channel.
