What is a building in Endless, and what kinds of places can I set up as buildings?
A building is any place where your company holds stock or ships orders from. Endless uses “building” in place of “warehouse,” so a building can be your own warehouse, a 3PL, a retail store, a supplier that ships for you, or any other site.
Every building has an address, locations, and optional connections to integrations. To sell from its stock, connect it to your sales channels with Push inventory turned on, and include it as Eligible in a routing rule so orders can be fulfilled from it. For a 3PL, set “Inventory managed by” to the 3PL’s connection so Endless imports its counts.
To track consignment stock held at a retailer, or stock at a contract manufacturer that cannot connect, add a building for that site and keep its counts in Endless with adjustments or the inventory import. Leave Push inventory off and keep it out of routing rules if you do not sell from it. Contact Endless support to discuss consignment.
Buildings belong to the company and are shared by all of its brands. Contact Endless support to discuss limiting a building to certain brands.
When you add a building, Endless creates three system locations: “Default Available” for sellable stock, “Default Unavailable” in the Quarantine zone, and “Available to Make,” a calculated location for units that can be built from components. Buildings that integrations create from their locations get the same three.
The newer building page, which may not be available on every account, has an Overview tab:
- SKUs with inventory: SKUs with units on hand.
- Total units on hand: all units, including allocated and unavailable stock.
- SKUs stocked: SKUs with a stock record in the building, including those at zero.
- Inventory locations: the building’s locations, without Available to Make.
- Fulfillment orders: counts by state.
- In transit: supply shipments that are Pending or In Transit to the building.
- Awaiting receipt: supply shipments that are Delivered or In Receiving.
