What is quarantine stock, and why can stock in a quarantine location still show as available?
Quarantine stock is stock in a location whose zone is Quarantine. Endless counts it in Physical but not in In Stock, so it is not Unallocated, not available to sell, and not included in inventory pushes.
Every building gets a “Default Unavailable” location when it is created. It is in the Quarantine zone, is not pickable, and is managed by the system, so you cannot edit it. An item’s location list labels it “Quarantine” and labels “Default Available” as “Default.” Integrations such as Shopify import their damaged counts into it when they manage the building’s inventory, and the inventory import puts rows with the Location Handle “unavailable” there.
The “Quarantine” column, and the Quarantine line on an item’s page, is the stock in all Quarantine-zone locations. Damaged stock goes in a Quarantine location too. To keep it apart, create a separate Quarantine-zone location for damaged units.
Quarantine stock can still show as available in two cases:
- You changed an existing location’s zone to Quarantine while it held stock. The units already there stay in In Stock on the inventory list until inventory levels are recalculated, which Endless does daily. Choose “Recalculate Inventory Levels” on the inventory list to update it now. Units moved in afterward count as Quarantine right away.
- The location is pickable. Endless allocates from any active, pickable location in the building, and zone only sets the order in which locations are used, with Quarantine last. A pickable Quarantine location can therefore supply orders when other locations run out.
To keep units out of orders and channels, put them in a Quarantine-zone location with Pickable turned off, such as Default Unavailable. Contact Endless support for help setting up quarantine or damaged stock.
