What happens to a building’s stock when I change or remove its inventory source or connections?

Changing or removing a building’s inventory source does not move or reset its stock. Endless keeps the current counts and changes only where future counts come from.

When you switch “Inventory managed by” from one connected system to another, for example from Shopify to your 3PL, the counts stay as they are until the next import from the new system. That import replaces the quantities in the building’s Default Available and Default Unavailable locations with the new system’s counts, for every SKU the new system reports. SKUs the new system does not report keep their old counts, and stock in other locations is not touched. Endless checks every minute for imports that are due, and each integration type has its own import frequency.

When you switch to Endless Commerce, imports stop. The last imported counts become Endless’s counts, and from then on you receive, adjust, and move stock in Endless. Fulfillment orders at the building then reserve stock through allocation before they ship.

Removing a connection archives it and keeps its history. Pushes and imports through it stop. The newer building page does not let you remove the inventory source connection or a connection with Push inventory set to Yes until you change those settings. If you remove the source connection from the Connections card on the older page’s General tab, imports stop and the page shows a message that the connection needs attention. Choose Endless Commerce or another system and save to clear it.

An integration appears under “Inventory managed by” only when it can send inventory to Endless and is connected to the building. On the older page, custom integrations with that ability are also listed under “Connect a custom integration.” A connection with Push inventory set to Yes cannot be chosen and shows “turn off Push inventory first.” If the list is empty, Endless shows “No integrations are available for this building.” Add a connection to the integration first, then choose it. Contact Endless support if your integration is still not listed.
