What is Endless EDI, and how do I set it up with a new retailer?

Endless EDI is the EDI service built into Endless. It exchanges X12 documents with retailers over AS2, SFTP, or VAN, so you do not need a separate EDI provider such as SPS Commerce for the retailers you connect through it. The app does not limit which retailers you can trade with; each retailer’s formats are set up when it is connected. It supports:

  • 850 purchase orders, which Endless checks for every 5 minutes and turns into sales orders;
  • 855 acknowledgments, sent when an order is approved;
  • 856 ship notices and 810 invoices, sent when fulfillment orders ship;
  • 846 inventory updates, sent once a day when “Send 846 inventory updates?” is on.

Which of the 855, 856, and 810 a retailer receives is set for each retailer connection.

Endless EDI works from Endless orders and shipments. Purchase orders become Endless sales orders, and the outgoing documents follow approvals and shipments recorded in Endless, through a connected warehouse or by hand. Contact Endless support to discuss using Endless for EDI alone.

To set up a new retailer:

  1. Open “You’re EDI compliant with Endless” from the Integrations page. It shows your ISA ID, the qualifier ZZ, and the communication channels, and has an email template for the retailer’s EDI team.
  2. Select Chat with an EDI Expert. Endless collects the retailer’s specifications, sets up the connection and its documents, and gives you a Polling Bucket ID.
  3. Create the Endless EDI integration and fill in the Sales Channel, EDI ISA ID, Partner EDI ISA ID, and any other settings the retailer needs.
  4. Complete the testing the retailer requires.

Moving an existing retailer connection from another provider means the retailer has to point its EDI at Endless. Whether the retailer asks for testing again, and any fees, depend on the retailer and your agreement. Contact Endless support to confirm for a specific retailer.
