Buildings

A building in Endless Commerce represents any place where your inventory is stored and orders can be fulfilled from. This could be a building you own and operate yourself, or it could be a third-party logistics provider (3PL) that stores and ships products on your behalf.

Each building has its own settings that control how it operates within your fulfillment network. You can have multiple buildings working together, each serving different purposes or geographic regions.

Buildings are often referred to as warehouses in other systems. From our point of view, a warehouse is just one type of building. Other types include retail stores, offices, factories etc.

Locations

Locations are specific storage areas within a building. Think of them as the exact spots where products are physically stored - like a particular shelf, bin, or pallet position.

All buildings in Endless have a default location for available inventory and a default location for unavailable inventory.

If you use Endless Commerce to manage your inventory directly, you can create your own locations for more control over where your inventory actually is.
