Why can’t I adjust stock in a location, and why was my adjustment rejected or overwritten?

You can adjust stock only in an active location of a building that is not archived, and only if you have an admin role. A connected system can later replace what you set.

  • Locations you cannot edit: the Available to Make location, shown for products with components, is calculated, so it does not have an edit control. Users without an admin role see quantities without the edit control.
  • “is not active”: the Locations tab lists every location in the building, including inactive ones. An inactive location cannot be adjusted, and Endless shows “Location “Name” is not active.” Set the location’s Status to Active, or adjust another location.
  • Archived buildings: to adjust stock in an archived building, unarchive it first. Archiving also archives its locations, and an adjustment to one shows “Location does not exist.” After unarchiving, add a location before you record stock there, and contact Endless support for help restoring the building’s Default Available and Default Unavailable locations.
  • Overwritten adjustments: when a building’s “Inventory managed by” is a connected system such as a 3PL, the item’s Locations tab shows “Inventory levels are managed by” with the system’s name. Each pull replaces the Default Available and Default Unavailable quantities with that system’s counts, so an adjustment or import there lasts only until the next pull. Correct the count in the 3PL’s system instead. Pulls do not change other locations.
  • Below zero: adjustments and imports accept quantities of 0 or more. Before you lower a location’s stock below the units allocated there, revert those fulfillment orders to Draft, and allocate them again afterward. If a location shows a negative quantity, adjust it to the counted quantity, and contact Endless support for help.
