Integration-Created Orders
Sales Orders and Fulfillment Orders may be created directly in Endless or supplied by an integration. Where a record originated does not change the basic way you work with it.
Sales Orders from an Integration
When integrations create sales orders in Endless they will continue to be able to edit them throughout the life cycle of the sales order.
Inside Endless, you can edit or enrich the sales order but you should assume that the source integration will overwrite your changes.
Most sales integrations are not connected to every sales order field so some fields can be safely edited in Endless.
Fulfillment Orders from an Integration
Some integrations create Fulfillment Orders alongside the Sales Order. Others create only the Sales Order and leave the Fulfillment Orders to be created in Endless. Both patterns are supported.
Regardless of where the Fulfillment Orders came from, you should use Endless to manage the fulfillment work. You can organize items, choose buildings, apply routing strategies and Fulfillment Rules, and pass the work to the appropriate fulfillment service.
When an integration creates fulfillment orders, it will have authority to mark those fulfillments as shipped until the fulfillment order is handed off to another system. This allows sales integrations to import orders that are already fulfilled or partially fulfilled.
Passing Work to a Fulfillment Service
A fulfillment service may receive its Fulfillment Orders in several ways:
- Endless can push the work directly to a connected fulfillment integration.
- A fulfillment team can open Endless and process the work in the app.
- A fulfillment service can use the API to retrieve and update its assigned work.
The fulfillment service creates Shipment information when the goods ship. The Shipment completes the Fulfillment Order, and the Fulfillment Orders collectively determine the Sales Order status.
See Troubleshooting Orders if a synchronized field changes unexpectedly or a fulfillment or Shipment update is rejected.
