Where do landed costs from a supply shipment end up, such as product costs, purchase order lines, and order cost of goods?
Landed costs stay on the supply shipment’s line items. To use them in product costs and in the cost of goods on sales orders, copy them into the product’s Default Landed Cost.
Receiving a supply shipment, or distributing its shipping and duties, leaves the product’s Default Unit Cost, Default Landed Cost, and inventory value as they are. You can see the results on the product’s Pricing & Costs tab, in the Shipment Costs card. It lists every supply shipment line for the product with Unit Cost, Freight / Unit, Duties / Unit, and Landed / Unit. Landed / Unit appears only after both shipping and duties have been distributed to that line. Enter the one you want in the product’s Default Landed Cost, on this tab or with the product import.
Cost of goods on sales orders depends on the Cost Accounting setting for your company, which Endless sets up with you. With “Default product costs,” each order line is costed from the dropship cost when the fulfillment has a supplier, otherwise the product’s Default Landed Cost, otherwise its Default Unit Cost. A change applies to orders costed from then on, and orders already costed keep their cost. Supply shipment costs reach cost of goods only if you copy the landed cost into the product’s Default Landed Cost yourself.
Landed cost per unit is calculated on supply shipment lines. To see it for a purchase order’s items, use the product’s Shipment Costs card or the Financials tab of each supply shipment. Contact Endless support to discuss landed costs on purchase order lines or in product costs.
When you add purchase order lines to a supply shipment, each shipment line starts with the purchase order line’s unit cost. After that the two are separate. Changing a unit cost on the shipment’s Financials tab does not change the purchase order line, and changing the purchase order line does not change existing shipment lines. Update both if the supplier price changed.
