How does Endless estimate and distribute duties and tariffs on purchase orders and supply shipments?

You enter duties and rates on a supply shipment, and Endless distributes the amounts to line items. Its only estimate multiplies a rate you enter by product cost.

On the Duties & Fees panel of the shipment’s Financials tab, each HTS category is one HTS code with a Rate % and an Invoice amount. Add codes by hand or with “Import from items,” which adds the codes set on line items. While editing, a category with a rate and an empty amount shows a wand, “Use estimated amount,” which fills in Rate % multiplied by the product cost of the items with that code.

“Uncategorized duties” is duty not tied to a category. The panel’s Total Duties & Fees is the category amounts plus Uncategorized duties, Tax, and Other.

“Distribute to line items” gives each category’s amount to the items with that HTS code, split by product cost. Uncategorized duties, Tax, and Other are then split across all items by product cost, so taxes and fees are included. Items without a unit cost receive nothing. If a category has an amount but no item with that code and a product cost, Endless stops and names the code; in the API this message reads “HTS categories have no eligible line items.”

Your developer or an AI coding tool can also distribute by product cost, which splits the whole total, or by duty rate, which weights each item’s product cost by its category’s rate, through the Endless API with an Operations Integration. API access must be in your plan.

To estimate duties before a purchase order ships, create its supply shipment and enter rates and estimates there.

The Tariffs tool is a separate HTS lookup. For a code, country of origin, and shipment value it estimates duties, additional tariffs, and customs fees. It reads a copy of the US tariff schedule included with Endless. Enter the rates you use as each category’s Rate %. Contact Endless support if you do not see the tool, or to discuss current rates.
