How do I record freight, duties, and other landed costs on a supply shipment?

Record landed costs on the supply shipment’s Financials tab, then distribute them to the shipment’s line items. Each shipment has its own costs.

A line’s landed cost is its product cost (unit cost times quantity) plus its Shipping amount and its Duties & Fees amount. The Totals card adds these up for the shipment.

To enter costs:

  1. Open the Unit Costs card and make sure each line has a unit cost.
  2. Open the Shipping card and edit the Shipping Costs panel. It has three amounts, Origin Costs, Transportation, and Destination, which add up to Total Shipping. Endless treats all three the same way; they let you keep charges before, during, and after the main freight leg apart. Save, then choose Distribute Costs.
  3. Open the Duties & Fees card and edit the panel. Enter amounts by HTS category, plus Uncategorized duties, Tax, and Other. Save, then choose “Distribute to line items.”

To estimate freight before a purchase order ships, create its supply shipment and enter estimates there, then replace them when invoices arrive.

To split one freight invoice across several supply shipments, work out each shipment’s portion and enter it on that shipment.

You can enter or change costs at any status until the shipment is Closed, including after it is Received. After a change, distribute again so line amounts match the new totals. To use the new landed cost in product costs, update the product’s Default Landed Cost.

All amounts use your company’s currency, so convert supplier or forwarder invoices to it before you enter them.

Unit costs on purchase order lines and on a shipment’s Unit Costs card accept up to four decimal places. Shipping and Duties & Fees amounts on line items use two.
