How does the cost estimate import work, and what does it change?

The cost estimate import adds or updates product estimates without changing the product’s default costs. On the product list, select Import and choose Product cost estimates.

Each row is one estimate. Endless looks for an estimate on the same product with the same supplier, Cost Type, and Quantity. A blank Supplier Handle means your own estimate without a supplier. If a match exists, the row updates it. Otherwise the row adds a new estimate. Two rows in one file for the same product, supplier, Cost Type, and Quantity fail as duplicates.

SKU, Cost Type (Standard or Dropship), Unit Cost, and Quantity are required. Unit Cost must be above zero, and Quantity must be a whole number. A Dropship estimate must have a Quantity of 1.

Blank cells:

  • A blank Unit Cost fails the row.
  • A blank Materials, Labor, Packaging, Inbound Freight, or Duties & Tariffs cell clears that value on an existing estimate. To keep stored values, leave the column out of the file.
  • A blank Lead Time or Effective Date clears that value on an existing estimate.

Set a product’s Default Unit Cost, Default Landed Cost, and Default Dropship Unit Cost on the product or with the product import.

“Supplier not found for handle” means no supplier in your company has the handle in the Supplier Handle column. The handle must match exactly. Add the supplier first or correct the handle. When an estimate names a supplier, Endless also links that supplier to the product.

Endless processes each row on its own. A failed row is skipped and the other rows are saved. The notification’s Raw metadata lists up to 10 failed rows with their reasons. A SKU that does not exist fails with “Product not found for SKU.” Create the product with a product import first.
