How do I set up kits, bundles, case packs, and component parts?
Set the product’s Product Type, add its components on the Components card, and choose how fulfillment treats it with “Fulfill with components” on the Settings card.
Three product types can hold components:
- Bundle: products sold together, such as a kit or gift set.
- Finished Good: a product you build. One Finished Good can be a component of another.
- Alias: another SKU for existing products.
Only Finished Goods and Parts can be components. To put one bundle’s contents in another, add its components directly. Endless rejects other product types, such as a Bundle or a Non-Inventory gift card, and lists the allowed types. Contact Endless support for help with bundles that contain other bundles.
Kits and virtual bundles differ by the “Fulfill with components” setting:
- No: the warehouse ships the pre-built product, as a traditional kit. This is the default for Finished Goods.
- Yes: Endless always replaces the product with its components on the fulfillment order, as a virtual bundle.
- Auto: Endless uses the product’s own stock when it covers the whole line, and the components otherwise. This is the default for new Bundles and Aliases. The product import also accepts a Composition Type of Kit or Virtual Bundle. It is a label and does not change fulfillment.
A bundle can have pre-made stock as well as stock from its components. Receive pre-built units under the bundle SKU and use Auto. Turn on “Inventory includes components” to add the units Endless could make from component stock to the bundle’s Available to Sell.
For component parts, create each as a Part and add it to the finished product. For a retail display or shipper, add a Part for the display packaging as a component next to the products it holds. For a case pack, create a Bundle whose only component is the single unit at the case quantity, such as 12, and set Fulfill with components to Yes. The case SKU and the unit SKU then sell from the single unit’s stock.
