Why is Shopify inventory different from Endless, sold out, or overselling, and how do I fix it?

Endless sets each mapped Shopify location’s available quantity to the Available to Sell of its building. Available to Sell is on-hand stock minus damaged and quarantined stock, allocated units, and units on open orders, and Endless never sends less than zero. “Include incoming inventory” adds open inbound shipments, and “Inventory includes components” on a product adds units its components can build.

Endless pushes every 15 minutes, only for buildings whose “Push inventory to integration” is Yes for that Shopify connection. A stock adjustment also sends that SKU right away. Other changes, such as orders from other channels, reach Shopify on the next push. Shopify variants are matched by exact SKU, and variants without a match keep their quantities.

An Activity tab entry saying updates were “skipped because items are not stocked at their mapped Shopify locations” means the item is not stocked at that location in Shopify. Stock it there, or turn on “Automatically stock items at mapped Shopify locations”.

Shopify shows a SKU sold out when Endless sends zero: the building has no sellable stock, the stock is allocated or on open orders, or the SKU is marked Out of stock for that integration on the item’s Inventory Syndication card. Mapping a building that does not hold the stock, or selecting “Out of Stock All”, can sell out many SKUs at once. Map new Shopify locations to buildings so Endless can stock and update them.

Overselling happens between pushes, and when several stores or locations receive the full quantity of one building. Shopify’s “Continue selling when out of stock” lets Shopify keep selling after Endless sends zero. Keep it off for items Endless manages.

To stop pushing, set “Push inventory to integration” to No for that building’s Shopify connection.

Endless pulls from Shopify only for buildings whose “Inventory managed by” is the Shopify connection, once a day or with “Pull Inventory (Overwrite EC)”. It skips variants whose SKU is not in Endless.
