How do products and variants come into Endless from Shopify, and which ones does Endless skip?

Import Products creates one Endless product for each Shopify variant. To change products that already exist in Endless, edit them in Endless.

Each product gets the variant’s SKU, barcode as UPC, price, weight, variant image, options, description, and vendor as supplier. Its name is the product title followed by the variant title, or the title alone when the product has only a default variant. A Shopify product with several variants becomes several Endless products. Endless also creates a building for each Shopify location that stocks the variant and has no building, and sets starting stock in mapped buildings from Shopify’s available quantity.

The import reads variants in batches of 50. The first run considers every variant. Later runs import only variants created in Shopify since the previous run.

Endless skips:

• variants whose SKU already exists in Endless,
• variants without a SKU,
• gift cards and variants that do not require shipping,
• products that are not Active in Shopify, and
• products matched by “Skip products by tag” or “Skip products by type”.

Both skip settings take a comma-separated list and need an exact match on a tag or the product type. They apply to every product import.

Import Single Product takes the Shopify product ID, the number in the product’s URL in Shopify admin, or a SKU. It imports that product’s variants with the same rules.

“Automatically import missing products when creating orders” imports the variant for an order line whose SKU is not in Endless, then links the line. When it is off, those lines stay unlinked.

“Listen to Products” makes Endless import each new product when it is created in Shopify. Run Import Products to bring in new variants on existing products. Merged products whose variants keep their SKUs need no change, because Endless matches by SKU. When you change a SKU in Shopify, change it on the Endless product too. Importing it again creates a second product.
