How do edits, cancellations, and refunds on a Shopify order sync with Endless after the order is imported?

While “Import & Update Orders” is on, Endless applies each Shopify change to the order: addresses, customer details, items, tags, payment status, shipping cost, and tax. Shopify manages these fields, so a later Shopify update overwrites edits you make to them in Endless. The order page warns about this when you edit them.

An update is not applied when the setting is off, the order is archived in Endless, or the order’s source integration was changed. To pull the latest data, select “Reload order”.

Item changes:

  • Added items become new lines.
  • Removed items stay on the order with a quantity of zero.
  • Endless updates its fulfillment orders to match only while they are Draft and untouched. If a fulfillment order was allocated, sent to a warehouse, shipped, or edited in Endless, the order timeline explains what to review.

A fulfillment order already sent to a warehouse keeps the address it was sent with.

Tags are replaced with Shopify’s tags on each update. When you remove every tag from an order in Shopify, remove them in Endless as well.

Cancellations:

  • Canceling an order in Shopify cancels it in Endless, with its Draft and Allocated fulfillment orders. If any fulfillment order has moved further, Endless keeps the order and records “Shopify canceled this order, but Endless did not cancel it because one or more active fulfillments have progressed beyond draft or allocated.” Check the warehouse, then cancel the order in Endless.
  • When you cancel an order in Endless, cancel it in Shopify as well.
  • To stop an order you archive or delete in Shopify, cancel it in Endless.

Refunds update the payment status, such as Refunded or Partially refunded. When a refund removes items, their quantities drop in Endless. When returned units come back, add them to stock with “Adjust Inventory” and the reason Customer Return. Contact Endless support to discuss syncing cancellations or returns.
