How do channel image slots work, and do they change the images on my live listings?
Channel slots are the numbered image positions each sales channel expects for a product, such as Hero and Alt 1. They appear on the product’s Channel slots card when the product is listed on at least one sales channel. Drag images from the tray into slots, drag between slots to swap them, or drag an image back to the tray to take it off that channel. You can also place an image into a tagged product’s channel slots from the image editor.
Each sales channel type starts with these defaults:
- Marketplace: 7 slots (Main, PT01 to PT06), at least 1600 × 1600 px
- E-commerce: 5 slots, 1200 × 1200 px
- Retail: 4 slots, 1000 × 1000 px
- Drop Ship: 3 slots, 1000 × 1000 px
- Wholesale and Distributor: 2 slots, 800 × 800 px Other channel types get 4 slots at 1000 × 1000 px.
To change them, open the sales channel and select “Edit image requirements” on its Image Requirements card. You can add, rename, reorder, or remove slots, with at least one, and set the minimum width and height. If you reduce the slots, images in removed slots move to the tray, and your next edit on that product clears those placements.
Your developer or an AI coding tool can add products to a sales channel through the Endless API with a Custom Product Integration. API access must be in your plan. The Channel slots card appears once a product is listed.
An image can fill only one slot per channel listing. Endless rejects a second placement of the same image.
Slot placements are for your own review and the media export. To change a live listing’s images, update them in the channel.
The sales channel’s Listings card marks each listing Ready or Needs images. A slot is flagged when its image is smaller than the channel’s minimum width or height, or is not a JPEG or PNG. Resize or crop the image outside Endless and replace it, or lower the minimum.
