What can an order automation change on an order, and what can’t it do?
Automations can approve or cancel orders, change fields and tags, hold orders, select a sales channel or carrier, and create and process fulfillments.
Set Order Field assigns a fixed value to a supported contact, financial, order-type, date, gift-message, or B2B field. Use Assign Sales Channel for the sales channel. Assign Tags preserves existing tags unless Replace All is enabled.
Approve Order acts on Pending orders; on another status it stops that run. Copy Shipping Address to Billing Address copies the address and contact details and turns off Ship-to Same as Bill-to.
For fulfillment, use Create Fulfillments on Order Created or Order Approved, then Process Fulfillment on Fulfillment Created. If needed, place Set Fulfillment Integration before processing to select the warehouse integration. Processing must be enabled.
Assign Carrier Service sets the order’s requested carrier. New fulfillments copy it; existing fulfillments keep their own selection. Set Fulfillment Carrier Service replaces a fulfillment’s selection, while Assign Fallback Fulfillment Carrier Service fills only an empty selection.
Create order financial document runs on Shipment Created and creates an invoice or sales receipt for uninvoiced quantities. It does not require an accounting integration. Cancel Order can run on Order Created or Order Approved.
Automations do not add free-gift line items. Add them in the sales channel or manually on the order.
Send Webhook sends the event to your URL on its supported triggers. Your developer or an AI coding tool can build a receiver that sends email or Slack messages. Automations must be included in your plan. Contact Endless support for help.
