productReleaseBomRevision

Releases a draft bill of materials revision and puts it into effect.

The draft becomes the active revision, the revision it replaces is marked superseded and kept as history, and the product live composition lines become the released set. Available to make is recalculated afterwards.

Releasing is the approval step: the person who releases is recorded as the approver, and the revision takes effect immediately.

Business Rules​

  • Only a draft revision can be released.
  • The revision is re-validated at release time, so a component that has since been changed or that would now close a loop stops the release.
  • The revision that was in effect is superseded rather than deleted.
  • Every line is frozen at release. Changing a released revision requires a new one.
  • Each manufactured component is pinned to the revision of it that was in effect, so this revision can later be read as it stood.

Error Scenarios​

  • **BOM revision was not found**: The revision does not exist or belongs to another product.
  • **Rev N is not a draft and cannot be released**: The revision has already been released.
  • **One or more components were not found**: A component has been removed since the draft was written.

Permissions Required​

Requires the products:update_composition_lines permission.
