Why did a fulfillment order fail to send to ShipStation, or arrive there incomplete or duplicated, and how do I fix it?
A fulfillment order fails to send when something about that order, its sales channel, or its building does not match what ShipStation accepts. Endless retries, then marks it Failed, and the order’s Timeline shows the reason. Fix the cause, then select “Resend for fulfillment.”
- “ShipStation rejected order: no orderId returned” means ShipStation answered without the ID needed to confirm creation or a more specific reason. Check ShipStation for the order before retrying.
- “ShipStation storeId … is not a number” means the store mapped to the order’s sales channel, or the “Shipstation Store ID” setting, is not a numeric ShipStation store ID. Pick the store after “Fetch Stores” on the Data mapping tab, or enter the number. The same message with warehouseId means the building’s connection does not hold a numeric ShipStation warehouse ID.
- “status: 401, response: unauthorized” means ShipStation did not accept the API key and secret. Enter current ones on the integration.
- “Keep one ShipStation fulfillment location before selecting this integration.” appears when you choose ShipStation as a building’s “Default fulfillment integration” while the building has more than one ShipStation connection that does not push inventory. Remove the extra ones.
A building’s fulfillment orders go to ShipStation only when ShipStation is its “Default fulfillment integration” or it is selected on the fulfillment order, manually or by automation.
A store listed by “Fetch Stores” can still refuse orders. For international orders, add customs details in ShipStation when it needs them, because Endless sends international orders the same way as domestic ones. In both cases ShipStation’s message is in the Timeline.
Each fulfillment order becomes its own ShipStation order with all of its items. Items on other fulfillment orders arrive as separate orders or go to another integration. Before you retry or resend, check ShipStation for the order, because a retry or resend can add a second ShipStation order for the same fulfillment order. Delete any extra order there, and contact Endless support for help with duplicates.
