Understanding Supply Chain Management
What Are ASNs?
An Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) is a notification about inventory heading to your warehouse. It's like a detailed shipping manifest that arrives before the actual products, telling you what to expect and when.
Each ASN includes tracking numbers, expected arrival dates, and a complete list of products being shipped. This advance notice helps warehouse staff prepare for incoming shipments.
ASN Types
Standard ASNs handle regular inventory replenishment from suppliers. Quick ASNs are for urgent shipments needing faster processing. Return ASNs track products coming back to your warehouse from returns or transfers.
Status Tracking
ASNs move through five status stages: Incoming (in transit), Arrived (at warehouse), Receiving (being processed), Closed (completed), or Canceled (stopped for issues).
ASN Items and Verification
Each ASN contains line items specifying products and quantities being shipped. During receiving, warehouse staff verify actual quantities against expected amounts to catch discrepancies and maintain accurate inventory counts.
Integrations
When ASNs are created, they will be automatically forwarded to warehouses that have an integration.
